Mini Update

Just a quick round up on a few things I have been working on…. this summer I had the pleasure of providing creative support to a group of artists during National Theatre Wales’s annual ‘summer camp’ residency program. I worked alongside creative associate Simon Coates at Dale Fort supporting the creation and sharing of a variety of artistic practices.

Highlights included practical tips shared by Phil Smith of Wrights and Sites fame, ‘Feedback Corner’ - a critical framework developed by Simon and I, and artistic interventions at Dale Fete.

DIY11: 2014 Live Art Development Agency

Really pleased to announce that I will be running a DIY11 session with Johanna Linsley with the Live Art Development Agency, Sound & Music and Arts Bournemouth. Looking forward to spending a few days listening in on the conversations of others and presenting the eavesdropping cabaret! Applications are open now, we would love to work with artists from all backgrounds - opera singers, live artists, theatre makers etc.

Stolen Voices is about eavesdropping. It is about listening-in, or the way listening is always positioned in space and in time. It is about overhearing, or the stuff we add to everything we hear – the biases and associations that help us construct identities for those who surround us. Finally, it is about the (often uncomfortably) unstable border between private and public that we all negotiate by existing in common with others. Taking place over one weekend, and alternating between independent fieldwork and group creation, this workshop culminates in an ‘Eavesdropping Cabaret’ – details on this to follow once attendance is confirmed.

Arts Council Funding Awarded

I’m really pleased to announce that my project ‘Re-imagining Llanbedrog’ has just been awarded a grant from Arts Council Wales for further research and development! The next phase of the work starts on Monday 19th May and involves a new collaboration with playwright Branwen Davies. Looking forward to fusing our creative practices that will be shown at the Aberystwyth Arts Centre on 28th and 29th May 2014.
