A Voice & Something Else was a unique scholar/artist three-day platform that focussed on the voice and listening developed in conjunction with the Department of Theatre, Film and Television Studies at Aberystwyth University. It focussed on questions such as: What might be in the voice that lies beyond words? How do we participate with the voice? What might be at the limit of the voice?
Instead of taking the format of a more traditional conference, A Voice & Something Else privileged practice as a mode of thinking and aimed to foster collaborative working partnerships between researchers, artists, and other interested parties across various disciplines. The first two days of the platform were allocated to working groups to further develop their responses and practical dialogues across the proposed themes. This culminated in an ‘open studio’ event on the third and final day of the platform. There were keynote artist practitioners carefully curated to accompany the process and offer guidance and advice throughout the three days. This event was organised with Kerrie Reading and Marios Chatziprokopiou.
